Mafia-like gangs took rubber farms, owner-had empty fields and lands in Tha Mee Lay Village (formerly called Sar Buu Taung) and other places of Hlegu Township as well as lands immediately beside the expressway in Sat Chaung Village, Bago Township in an anarchic way. Moreover, they jeopardized the Tha Mee Lay rural community- Christians and Buddhists, by trying to create a religious conflict.

The leader was U Kyaw Kyaw (NRC No. 7/PaKhaNa (Naing) 052710). Seconds to him were U Han Tin ( Father’s name- U Nyein Aung) from Bago, U Thet Naing aka Phoe Cho (Father’s name- U Myint Naing from Maw Pya Village, Hlegu, U Tin Mint (Father’s name- U Aung Nyein from Tharyar Gone Village, Bago, U Than Oo, a fireman, from Thee Kalay Village, Hlegu, Hla Lay Sein from Sap Inn Village, Bago, and Tartee aka Maung Muang Tar who was a deserter (Father’s name U San Khin) from Bago. They had 27 gangsters too.

“Those gang leaders and gangsters trickily got the forbidden fields from the government, giving reason for growing rubber, and also took lands by force, which belong to private owners. Then, they made black money by selling these for the sake of themselves”, a villager who wished to hide his name told M-Media.

“With the black money, they bought a hotel, houses, and cars, and frighten everyone not to go against them by using different sorts of threats. They’re practicing the rule of jungle as in a state of anarchy. Though our villagers want them to be taken action by law, we all are scared even to inform authorities about them. We want the president U Thein Sein and authorities to know that we’d like to take our lands back from whom occupied the lands illegally,” he added.

Despite report of this problem to the responsible Hlegu police station, it was been neglected and no action was taken.
