3 Rakhines attempting to explode mosques, Sentenced 4 years in prison

Three Rakhine men with the terrorist plot to detonate Mosques in Yangon were sentenced to 4 years in prison.

The legal representative of defendants, U Robert San Aung told RFA that Ko Thein Nyunt @ Japan Gyi, Ko Tin Maung @ Khine Nay Min and Ko Bo Bo @ Bo Bo Htun were convicted in Yangon division Northern district court. They were found guilty 11 months after the arrest.

On November 13th 2013, 31 years old Ko Khine Nay Min was arrested in SKY motel in Pa Dan village, Hlaing Thar Yar township while he is assembling the explosives. His partner, 34 years old Ko Thein Nyunt from Tharyar Waddy Division was incarcerated at 12 noon on the same day. Based on the investigation on those two culprits, Ko Bo Bo Htun from Kaung street, Ta Yar Thee Su township, Sittwe, Rakhine State was detained on November 16th 2013.

According to their confession, Khine Nay Min had attended terrorist training in border area since July 3rd 2013, announced the police department at the time of their arrest.

Although the police department said that terrorists were attempting to detonate “religious buildings” and they were connected to other people and official organizations, no details has been released since the arrest of terrorists 11 months ago.
