Nearly 100 citizens have participated in an interfaith blood donation event that was held in Mandalay’s Panthay (Chinese Muslims) Mosque on January 30th to mark Prophet Muhammad Day.
The activity, organized by Central Organizing Committee of Prophet Day (Mandalay), is a fifth of that kind and 92 people from different faiths have donated their blood in cooperation with Mandalay Blood Bank.
“We started this annual event since 1999. But we couldn’t do in some years. Celebrating Prophet Muhammad Day, this blood donation event aims to get better understanding and to improve mutual friendship in our multi-culture society” said a spoke person of Blood Donation Working Committee.
One of the blood donor, Kyaw Moe Aung said “I have been participating in this event since second time. Blood donation to celebrate Prophet Day is a part of humanitarian work that prophet has encouraged us to do. Blood donation is a kind of saving lives. That is why I gave one hand in humanitarian work to obey prophet’s teachings”
Working committee is setting up their efforts to organize blood donation activity annually and to have more donors.
