One mosque and 50 houses were set on fire. The campaign to attack Muslims started at 5 pm yesterday. The actual attacks were carried out at night. After destroying the mosque and homes, rioters also destroyed Muslim shops in the market, taking away properties with them. They also destroyed and stole properties from shops owned by Buddhists.
Radio Free Asia quoted a Yamethin district police officer saying that an unidentified group is responsible for Ywar Tan riot and it has connection to Meiktila violence.
