Entire village is gone now. In Turali, there were 700 to 800 houses and two mosques. That village was also burnt down completely. The military shot dead 3 Mawlawi (religious leaders) and 4 other persons. Two other villages, Samli and Aungdai, were burnt down since yesterday evening”

The resident told M-Media, “Latma village is currently burning. It has more than 1,500 houses and 9 mosques. I had contact earlier [with the village], but I lost contact”. There are military units in those villages, but the army shoot if Muslims react. People have no where to go, so they can only run and hide in the forest”.

    Kyauk Phyu Township

There are 12 wards in Kyauk Phyu Township, Rakhine State and a mosque in West Ward was burnt down by Rakhine extremists at night on 22nd Oct. Very few Muslims live near that mosque. As a result, Muslims were not ready to protect the mosque against this arson. The authorities of Kyauk Phyu District have confirmed this news. At the present, army squads have covered that ward.

Most of those terrorists are not local residents but came from other townships. Only a handful of local people co-operated that mob to commit this crime. Rakhine Buddhists and Muslims had harmoniously co-existed in Kyauk Phyu Township before this criminal offence.

A Kyauk Phyu resident told M-Media that Thantwe Muslims now become worried about a consequential catalogue of terrorist attacks because of this terrorist outrage in Kyauk Phyu although solely two townships-Thantwe and Kyauk Phyu do not involve in Rakhine conflict.

A coalition of four major Islamic organizations in Myanmar jointly announces today that Myanmar Muslims will not celebrate this year’s Eid ul-Adha, a holy religious event scheduled for October 27 in Myanmar.

The statement, signed by the Olama Muslim Theologians, the Islamic Affairs Council, the Myanmar Muslim Youth’s Religious Organization (Ma-Ma-La), and the Myanmar Muslim National League, said that Muslims in Arakan state are being killed; their homes, properties and religious schools are being burnt down and destroyed.

The statement highlights that new rules and restrictions regarding Eid ul-Adha have been imposed in several states and divisions.

Moreover, communal organizations are spreading threats and anti-Muslim messages in Pa-an (Karen state), Mawlamyein (Mon state), Mandalay and some other places in the country.

The Islamic Affairs Council have reported these anti-Muslim activities to the government several times, but the government did not respond, said the statement.

The four organizations thus urge Myanmar Muslims not to celebrate Eid ul-Adha due to on-going situations as well as the government’s inability to provide security to Muslims.
