Thae Chaung (at 3:40 PM)
Terror in Arakan state continue to get worse today.
Groups of ethnic Kaman refugees from Kyaut Phyu have landed in Thae Chaung, Sittwe (Akyab). But another 5,000 to 6,000 refugees from Pauk Taw and Kyuat Phyu have been prevented by the Navy from entering villages where the refugees are trying to take refuge. A refugee told M-Media that they might be sent instead to A-Ngu-Maw island, near Maung Taw.
M-Media talked to an ethnic Kaman refugee at 3:40 PM today,
“They said we should be sent to A-Ngu-Maw island by these boats. There is no food and water at A-Ngu-Maw island. So, refugees might die of hunger and dehydration there. Navy Colonel Maung Maung Oo has confiscated refugees’ boats. We said we didn’t want to go to A-Ngu-Maw, but preferred to stay in villages. A woman from Pak Taw died today. She died of hunger and dehydration as she was on the boat for 2-3 days without food and water. Now, a pregnant woman is making noise as it’s the time to give birth her child. Nobody can do anything. Situations can get worse, and everyone is worried”.
